This route to Black Elk Peak starts at the Little Devils Tower trailhead which is just east of the Sylvan Lake parking lot on Highway 87. This trail is typically less busy than trail #9 or the Southern Trailhead. You can start this trail at Sylvan Lake it would add about a half mile to the total length. This is a good choice for those wanting to avoid some of the people but not quite ready to tackle one of the lengthier routes.
