This section of the 111 mile Centennial Trail is a little over 5 miles one way. If you aren’t up for doing over 10 miles, grab a friend and park a vehicle at each trailhead. There is a bathroom at the Rapid Creek Trailhead, but not at the Brush Creek Trailhead. The Rapid Creek trailhead is easy to find off hwy 385 near Pactola Lake outside Rapid City, South Dakota. The first half mile or so is a popular spot for fishing as it winds along the creek. After that, you will start a long climb before dropping back down to the Brush Creek Trailhead.
